Hi, there!

I’m Svani Parekh and I’ve written stories across TV, books, gaming and audio. I’ve worked with Netflix, Sesame Street, the BBC, Disney, Discovery Channel and Cartoon Network. I’ve also published two books with Oxford Children’s Books, UK, and was Creative Head on a STEAM audio fiction project. Currently, I’m a Game Writer at Ubisoft.

A few years ago I co-created ‘Yom: The Yoga Action Hero’, which was picked up by Disney. More recently, I was scriptwriter and lyricist on ‘Ghee Happy’, an animated show introducing kids to Indian mythology which was nominated for an Emmy Award and won the Annie Award for Best Preschool Series.

Having grown up in both Nigeria and India, I love telling fun, twisty tales rooted in diverse lore – especially stories about finding one’s identity and community across a diverse world. I’m currently working on a teen fantasy/thriller with a twist of Indian folklore!

I’m a member of SFWA, ITW, SCBWI, and Codex Writers, and am @svaniparekh on LinkedIn, Instragram, Twitter, Threads and Bluesky. I’m represented by Lydia Silver at The Soho Agency, UK.

When not writing, I can be found in Mumbai eating mangoes and, often, my words; cheating at cryptic crosswords; and trying my damnedest not to fall off the mountain trails my partner inexplicably loves.
